About Me

Sandra

I have been in private practice as a full-time psychotherapist for over 22 years.

Prior to that, I was a high school teacher, guidance counsellor and a Head of Guidance with the Toronto District School Board.

My approach is down-to-earth, goal-directed and non-judgmental. Trained as an Adlerian Psychotherapist, I approach life’s difficulties from an integrative framework which is individually tailored to each of my clients. In addition to Adlerian psychotherapy, my treatments include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Reality / Choice Therapy, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Psycho-educational Counselling, Art Therapy and Dream Analysis.

Unlike many kinds of therapy that dwell on the past, my focus is on moving forward – where you are right now and where you want to be when the problems are resolved. In counselling, we may look at the past (depending on the issue) to understand how you got to be where you are today and where you’ve repeated the same negative patterns of behaviour. Then we can work at avoiding those pitfalls. This will enable you to lead a healthy, fulfilling and productive life.

I am also a trained Sex Therapist, and can help clients who may have had trauma, sexual abuse or incest in their past and are finding it now interferes with their present sexual relationship. Couples frequently come to me with problems of intimacy. I can help with all sexual dysfunctions  which are psychologically based.

Whatever your reason for counselling, we will explore these issues in a calm, caring, warm and relaxing
environment where you set the pace. I look forward to working with you.
